It’s predicted in which by the 12 months 2013, there’ll be more cell phones than folks the world. With the user-base closing the actual 1.6 billion level, it is imperative for brands, web developers along with designers to jump on the smart phone bandwagon along with cater to the actual ever growing market of web users on the portable.
From a technological and style perspective, one dosen’t really need to follow entirely brand-new concepts to generate mobile pleasant portals; as well it is important to possess a completely new procedure for your style. Mobile internet sites are typically much more restrictive than the ones which can be accessed by way of common web browsers. It is important to get a design professional to make efficient use of advancement and style principals to be able to facilitate the identical functionalities along with tools without having compromising on the experience of the net users.
As a way to implement an excellent web design task for mobile intergrated ,, you need to think about the following aspects -
1. Acquainting Oneself with the Hardware and Software Tools at Hand
Having a number of common players available in the market, mobile devices differ in the systems used, resolutions, user connections and monitor sizes. You’ll want to identify the many platforms for which you would like to enhance your website pertaining to and then work at getting to know the actual nitty-gritty’s of that specific framework.
The most popular and widely used operating systems nowadays are the iOS pertaining to Apple cell phones, Palm Operating system, Mobile A linux systemunix, the Rim Platform and the Android.
2. A Simple Mobile Internet site
The key to a good portable website is simplification. While you’re creating a portable based site you need to have idea of the limitations associated with browsing with a handset. As a way to ensure a positive browsing experience with mobile customers, you need to make sure that your portal won’t take too much time to insert and is easily navigational. Get rid of every one of the complex aspects such as photos and expensive presentations. Recognize other methods in which you can easily simplify the website and enhance its operation. You can consider replacing your selections and breaking apart the content above multiple pages.
3. Clean up Coding
While standard internet based browsers tend to be flexible with respect to bad coding. You need to be more stringent about your coding for portable based websites. Once you have discovered the systems and systems on which you wish work on, make sure that the unique codes that you use do understand, clean and as minimalistic as you possibly can.
4. Giving your Consumers an Option to decide onMost portable websites usually miss out on this time. Depending on the system that your audience uses, it is possible to offer internet-users the choice to return back to a regular website. Since your mobile website will have limits with respect to operation and information; it is possible that your market may want to surf on the normal website to meet up with their data or useful needs.
In addition to this, try to discriminate the mobile website from your normal website using a different concept; usability functions such as scrolling must be as simple as feasible; avoid using pop-up glass windows and work with an easy navigation system. If you’re able to offer a functional approach to your web site, you are sure to design a successful portable site that is beneficial to targeted audiences and your client’s company objectives.

10 Ways to Optimize Your Use of Twitter By Suzanne Fyhrie Parrott (c) 2012
It's easy and free to create a Twitter Account but how to take advantage of this amazing tool still eludes many.
Twitter Cheat Sheet for Authors
Basic Terminology:
TWEET - Any message 140 characters long sent out to everyone. Unless you send a direct message (DM), everything on Twitter is viewable to the public.
DM - Direct Message. These messages are private and only between people who DM each other.
RT - Retweet. Twitter has created a re-tweeting tool that makes it easier, but the standard convention is to put a RT, cite the source of the message, and then retweet. Example, if I wrote: "I write, but not always right." You would RT @unrulyguides "I write, but not always right." The goal is to encourage others to retweet your message thus expanding your reach.
# - Hashtag. These are used in front of a word or set of letters to allow easy communication on a specific topic. For example, if you tweet about dogs with other canine lovers, you could use the hashtag #dogtalk. This becomes a clickable link in your message and when clicked will display all the tweets using that hashtag.
#FF - Follow Friday. It's a nice way to show support of other tweeters. On Friday.
10 Tips to Optimize Your Use of Twitter:
1. Use Your Real Name, If Possible Make it easy for people who know you to find you on Twitter.
2. Add a Profile Picture This should be a picture of you. People connect better with other people, not cartoons, book covers, logos, etc.
3. Link to Your Website Hopefully you have a blog or website you can link to. If you don't, create one now.
4. Write Your Bio Make it memorable. Make it relevant to who you are. You don't have to be funny or cute, but if you can, and still be relevant, then do it.
5. Tweet Regularly This is the biggest obstacle for authors. But it is key to promotion. It doesn't matter if you only have two followers and one is your mom, you still need to tweet daily, to be effective.
If you don't have something to write, then RT something funny or useful. Another way is to connect your blog to your twitter account, then every "post" you write is automatically "tweeted" on Twitter.
6. Tweet Relevant Information Don't tweet every moment of your life, such as "I am eating a hamburger" or "I should have ate a salad." These tweets are not interesting or relevant. However, if you were eating a hamburger with Johnny Depp sitting at the next table, then by all means, tweet. "I just ate the best hamburger sitting next to Johnny Depp. Now I am ready to write my romance novel."
7. Link and Don't Link It's good to link to other places and share your discoveries; however, if all you do is link, people may think you are just trying to sell to them and won't give much regard to your posts.
8. Have a Personality This is easy. Be yourself. You don't have to be overly, funny or smart. Twitter is all about connecting with people - so be a person.
9. Follow Those Worth Following Some people are all into the quantity. But I recommend looking for quality. Just because you are being followed by someone you do not have to return the follow. Only follow people that are relevant and beneficial to you or your audience.
10. Communicate with Others Twitter is all about communication. If people talk to you or RT your message, then talk back and/or thank them. (SECRET: People like to feel involved and acknowledged. I like it, you like it, everybody likes it.)

Six Things Businesses Need to Know About Facebook's Timeline By Laura Tate (c) 2012
Since its inception, social media giant Facebook has seen numerous changes to its layouts, and many useful features have been added. The most recent of these is the "Timeline," which was introduced in December 2011.
The Timeline arranges posts according to date, streamlining all materials, including status messages, pictures, videos, and other Facebook activities, showing a history of a Fan page.
By now every company that utilizes Facebook for their social media networking has incorporated the Timeline. However, many might have been put off by the changes and not taken a look at all that is offered with the new features or optimized the obvious ones.
Here are six things business owners should know about Timeline on Facebook.
1. The Large, Space-Occupying Cover Photo This area, located at the top of the Facebook page is the first thing people see when visiting a page. Facebook has dedicated 851 x 315 pixels just for this space alone.
The No. 1 consideration when utilizing the cover photo feature is using an image or graphic that will pop out and catch a viewer's attention.
However, Facebook has placed limitations on business use of the cover photo: no offers of discounts on services, no contact information, like email, and definitely no calls to actions, especially asking viewers to Like your page, are allowed on the cover photo. Even an arrow pointing to the official Facebook Like button is disallowed.
Hence, the cover photo should be striking enough to draw viewers' interest, while conveying the business brand image and/or its services.
Whatever message is put on the cover photo, it should make people want to view the company's Timeline and tabs under the cover.
2. No More Default Landing Pages In the past, businesses created Facebook landing pages where people were asked to click the "Like" button, install an application, complete a survey or even join a competition. These calls to action were usually associated with an offer of a free download, such as an Ebook, or discount on services or products.
Now, with Facebook's new layout, people are directed immediately toward the company's Timeline page, without passing through another portal. This is intended to make it easier for users to explore a business and what they're really about.
Hence, the page and Timeline of a business must be interesting and provide concise information at the same time.
One way to showcase certain aspects of a company's history is to highlight a posting that has a great image. When highlighted, the post will stretch across the page, making it hard to miss.
Older posts can be re-purposed by pinning them to the top left corner, moving it up from wherever it may be, even if it's a year old.
3. Using Apps for Promotions and Offers Even though offers and promotions are excluded from the cover photo or landing pages, these useful lead-generating 'social media campaigns' (http://www.crackerjackscribe.com/ social-media-marketing-and-reputation-managment.html) can be utilized with approved Facebook apps.
Some apps are free, but with the caveat of carrying their maker's logo. If you don't mind, then they are very useful. Shortstack (http://www.shortstack.com/) is free with limited capabilities, such as not being able to compile a database for contest or other forms. However it's useful to generate interest, and you can embed your business blog into Facebook with the app, pointing it back to your Web site with links. The app also offers paid versions starting at $30.
Once installed, the tab images will show up under the cover photo. To generate interest, use eye-catching images with informative text below the tabs to entice visitors to click on them.
4. Businesses can Receive and Reply to PMs With the new Timeline in place, people can now send personal or private messages to companies, and businesses may reply to these messages as well.
This feature is excellent for helping businesses network with potential clients, and enables another avenue to provide customer service.
It can also be switched off, particularly if the message load is too much to handle.
5. Everybody can see Posts About Businesses If a certain company or business is mentioned in a comment, reply, post, or an uploaded medium, it will be seen in the company's Timeline, and everyone can see it.
This feature, as with most others, can be disabled, or, at the very least, posts can be screened in order to see whether they would be harmful to the business.
6. User Friendly Admin Controls The new Facebook Timeline has made it easier for businesses to monitor the number of likes, comments, sharing, and all aspects of a company's Facebook fan page from one place.
A more detailed look at visitor engagement is offered with Insights. A fan page must have a minimum of 30 likes in order to utilize the chart, which shows number of Likes, Reach, and People Talking about your page. More detailed information such as what is drawing the most activity - photos, posts, mentions etc. - on your page are offered as well.
These are just a few of the new aspects of Facebook's Timeline that can help a business draw more engagement from existing and potential customers and fans.

Promoting a business can be extremely taxing, especially when you're just getting started. If you're into checking out marketing blogs, you've probably come across some information about YouTube marketing. This form of advertising falls under the umbrella of video advertising, which falls under the even larger umbrella of Internet marketing. Take a look at some specifics of this business strategy to deepen your understanding about its importance and utilize it to help popularize your products or services.
Why Online Video Advertising?
Video marketing is one of the leading advertising platforms on the Internet. People of all ages and from different backgrounds are taking advantage of this promotional opportuníty in an effort to maximize the visibility of their business. It falls under the concept of showing rather than telling and continues to draw an abundance of viewers if done correctly. There are several types of video marketing. The primary kinds include article video marketing, viral video marketing and social video marketing. Individuals can utilize one or multiple forms according to their specific needs and intentions. If you're not certain about how to implement videos, it's a good idea to consult with a professional or consider audio production schools in your area that'll provide thorough instruction:
Article Video Marketing
This type of video marketing typically interests those who prefer the less time-consuming practice of watching informational videos rather than reading articles. Video marketing involves businesses or individuals developing numerous short clips that display the contents of articles written beforehand. Most videos are between two and five minutes and cover a wide range of topics. After the videos are created, they're uploaded onto popular video-sharing websites to target an audience.
Articles can be converted into videos in a number of ways. One of the most popular ways is to turn the written pieces into a PowerPoint presentation or animated slideshow. Pictures and a voiceover narration are usually added to the presentation before it's recorded via screen capture software and put on the Internet for viewing pleasure. An alternative involves recording an article and saving it as an MP3 file. Afterwards, video layout software is used to change the audio to a video. The finished product is then exported and uploaded to relevant websites for exposure. Viral Video Marketing
Another form of online video advertising is viral video marketing which contains humorous events, eyewitness incidents or clips from comedy sketches on television. Many clips are shot by amateurs on mobile devices and edited with the use of economical tools and software before being published on video sharing sites, social networking sites and personal websites.
Most viral videos are created as a dialogue and shared with the intention of entertaining family and friends, although many people use it as a way to engage prospective customers. This option has benefited word-of-mouth marketing and was preceded by email-sharing. These videos continue to grow in popularity in a variety of sectors, including education and music. However, fans of this concept must be careful not to violate copyright laws, as this has been a major downside to viral video-making and has been the result of several problems within the entertainment industry. Social Video Marketing
This choice is equally significant. Social video marketing (SVM) is similar to viral video marketing in that it engages a wide audience through the distribution of video. However, the notion of self-expression tends to be more evident. This form of video marketing relies heavily on social theory, consumer culture theory, and economic theory.
SVM also intends to leave a deeper contextual message, rather than simply being a pass-along model between sender and recipient. In other words, a more individualistic approach is taken and the finished product tends to have more depth as it forms solid relationships and builds trust between publishers and viewers.
Introducing YouTube
Despite the kind of video marketing used, many advertisers can attest to the benefits of sharing their clips on YouTube. This video-sharing site attracts millions of visitors on a regular basis and contains a large host of products, including music videos, TV clips, movie clips, video blogs, and original clips. Although mostly individuals upload videos on the site, several major corporations have been known to make contributions as well.
Content is constantly investigated by YouTube's employees. Explicit or offensive material can only be viewed by registered users. This group also has the privilege of uploading videos, as well as watching them. Unregistered users, on the other hand, solely have the right to view distributed clips.
Besides uploading, YouTube also contains other valuable features. Playback is a major attribute on the site and enables users to view finished products if an Adobe Flash Player plug-in is installed on their computer. Browsers that support specific HTML5 versions, such as advanced video coding and WebM, also afford individuals the opportunity to view videos, although some clips are still inaccessible with this alternative. Additional features include 3D videos, various platforms and a new localization system.
How it All Began
At the beginning of 2005, YouTube was established by three former PayPal employees. The entire concept of the video-sharing website was developed over the course of a few months and started out as a technology start-up company. Its headquarters were initially located in San Mateo, California.
After its inception, the site grew faster than anticipated. By the summer of 2006, it was reported that thousánds of videos were being uploaded every day and millions of viewers were watching clips per day. Numbers continued to increase and moved into the billions by 2010. Since then, YouTube has embarked on several new concepts, such as the ability to upload full-length videos and the free streaming of specific content. A new design was also launched to provide additional benefits to users.
Today, YouTube is headquartered in San Bruno, California. After being acquired by Google, the Google+ social networking site was integrated with YouTube which allow the site's videos to be viewed from Google's interface. YouTube is a dominant force in the online business market in the United States and it also ranks relatively high in other regions, including the United Kingdom. As of 2012, more than 4 billion videos are streamed per day.

As a small business owner, if you do not take advantage of the Internet, then you are missing a huge opportunity to promoting your products and services. Using online local Internet marketing tactics can transform your small business marketing into BIG business marketing.
Nearly 50% of businesses have taken that first essential step to getting online: building a web site. That’s great but, unfortunately, just having that small piece of real estate on the web isn’t enough. It’s a start, so let’s build on that by reviewing some basic things to do with the web site first. The appearance and the content of your web site should be simple and valuable. Whoever visits your site should find it attractive and should be able to clearly understand your company’s benefits. Try having enough information on the site to answer the most frequent questions that your prospective customer might have. Even more, have information on the site that explains what they SHOULD know, but don’t know to ask about. Again, just putting up a site on the Internet isn’t going to be enough to bring more business, but make sure it is done right.
The key to using your web site to drive more traffic to your business, with phone calls, online purchases, or in-store visits, is capture the attention of people searching for your goods and services online. The number of people using search engines, such as Google, to find local businesses like yours is skyrocketing. Recent studies show that many more people are searching the web for local products and services than picking up the “handy” yellow page book. Google and its rivals have figured that out and they are investing heavily to designing their search engines to cater to that audience. Therefore, you need to do THREE THINGS right now to benefit from that trend.
1) First, construct your web site to conform with what the search engines want to show their users. Specifically, find out what the online searchers are typing into the search box and write your web site’s content to accommodate. That is often referred to in the Internet marketing community as on-page search engine optimization (or SEO).
2) Second, promote your web site in as many places as possible (online and offline). “As many places as possible” includes, but is not limited to, these activities: finding web pages online where a link to your web site can be placed; adding your business information to online local directories; adding your business information to social media sites; creating content in the form of articles, videos, images, reports, etc. and posting it on a variety of online content sharing web sites; and others! With a little creativity, you will find that there are more opportunities to reference your business and link back to your web site than you’ll ever be able to do.
3) Third, manage your reputation online. If you do nothing else, you should be monitoring what people online are saying about you, your business, your competitors, your suppliers, and even your customers (if you’re B2B). Many tools exist to monitor these conversations.

Yelp Help and "The Never-ending Story" of Local SEO Strategies
A SPN Exclusive Article By Samantha Walt (c) 2012
After assistant professor Michael Luca demonstrated in his Harvard Business School Working Paper the effect Yelp reviews have on restaurant goers, many small business owners nationwide are now trying to employ their own 'Yelp Strategies.' Although Luca states the success a restaurant can have with good reviews, other small businesses do not have the same volume of reviews and thus it's difficult to agree or disagree with his conclusion. Regardless of Luca's concluding remarks, it is undeniable the impact a local SEO strategy can have for a company. With or without reviews, having a comprehensive local strategy can take you from zero to sixty in a day's work. Below, I discuss the ins and outs of dealing with Yelp and other major sites plus a look at the evolution of local listings and mobile apps.
Say what? Yelp?
Even though Yelp has made recent news, many people still have no idea what it is or, why it matters. For a quick background: Yelp, founded in 2004, is a local search engine where anyone can write a review about local services, goods, and businesses. With an average of 66 million new visitors, and 25 million local reviews written, Yelp is a premier review site. Yelp offers local business a free listing on their site with a no-follow link to a website of their choosing.
Great I filled everything out, but what about reviews?
The hardest part about doing a complete local SEO strategy is getting those reviews. On Google, the more reviews you have the higher your ranking is in Google Places. On Yelp positive reviews and higher 'star levels' result in more revenue for your business (Luca, 2012). Then again, negative reviews can result in a loss of revenue. One bad review online can affect your business for years to come but a lot of good reviews can usually outweigh the bad.
Actually getting the reviews is a whole other problem. To get a customer to review your company often means that you have to get them to think about your company outside of doing business with you. Some useful strategies to get them to care about your bottom line and stop thinking about themselves is to deliver exceptional service and remind them frequently of your existence with Facebook updates, emails, coupons, and candy canes. You can also use your local listings pages to encourage reviewing by providing links to your company site that promise positive reviewers future discounts.
Whoa! Submissions and reviews are done, but am I?
Since you are on this site chances are you have realized that SEO isn't ever done. Every day, new information is popping up about how to better optimize your site, blog, and even local listings. Having read and heard nearly everything I can find on local listings, especially Google Places, I would say I know a lot, but it doesn't ever stop. My best local listing advice is, make sure that your business is available on every site, especially ones with mobile capabilities. If you have a store front of any sort, make sure the people walking and driving in your area can find you via mobile or GPS devices. Do research on the most popular applications (apps) and make sure that your business comes up when searched. If you haven't tried it out don't worry, I have.
While writing this article I wanted to prove to myself the importance of mobile devices on local listings. Knowing Foursquare is huge I decided to test them out. I came across not only Foursquare's app, which has some 15 million purchases, but that of 10 other related apps. Most for free, each app claims to help you find 'cool' things and places based on your location. Oh and by the way, Yelp has a free application also. Apps for local business are replacing major search engines. Make sure you can be found on such apps and do not forget to make sure that your website is also mobile capable. The world is going mobile people, don't be the last to know.
Bottom Line (as I give my clients):
Have a local SEO strategy that has consistent information on each local listing site. Don't forget Luca's research and grow your testimonials online - it will help. Finally, go mobile via apps and your website. If you ever doubt the mobile revolution, just talk to my buddy Jed Alpert of Mobile Commons, a leader in the mobile evolution world, and he will tell you. Like I said above, there is always new information sprouting up about local SEO strategies, make sure you know what they are; it's fun!

What You Should Strategically Do About Google+ By Nancy McCord (c) 2012
What You Should
Strategically Do About Google+
By Nancy McCord (c) 2012
Even with the Wall Street Journal and other news services stating that Google+ is a ghost town and that users typically spend less than two minutes on the platform a month, I consider positioning yourself on Google+ a top priority. In fact so much so, that I wanted to make sure that all of our readers and clients knew my feelings about how to use Google+ and its importance for organic placement for the future.
First, let's talk about the actions you should take immediately.
- Tie your preferred Google account with Google+.
- Lock down your business name as a Google+ Business page.
- Lock down a business page with your most important short keyword phrase.
- Link your Google AdWords program to your Google+ account user name.
- Implement Google +1 on your blog and your website.
These important first steps can easily be done by you. If you need help, please ask us for it as what will be happening with Google+ in the near future is very important to your online visibility.
Second, let's talk about what Google+ and +1's are.
Google+ is a social platform. It is not like Facebook, but more like Facebook and Twitter combined. However, it is much more important than any of the social networks we know and use now.
You could consider Google+ like a voting and popularity network but one that has the ear of Google. Anything you do on Google+ will most certainly impact your website's organic placement and Web Visibility in the future. Google has said as much in their releases. Google has already started showing social results from your Google+ network in their personalized search results.
What this means is that for people and businesses that embrace Google+ early and start building their network now, there will be strong benefits for their updates and links; activity will be shown in your personal and expanded network's search/ social results.
+1's are Google's versions of votes. If you like a page, like an ad, like a blog post, like a Google+ comment, you vote it up using a +1. What is crucial to understand is that a +1 is tied to your Google+ activity. These +1 votes will impact your visibility and placement on Google in the new Google Search Plus Your World results.
Third, let's talk about Google Search Plus Your World.
In mid-January, Google rolled out an important change to their search index. They named it Google Search Plus Your World. In my industry we call it Search Plus. Google stated that they will be using activity, updates, Google+ activity, and +1 activity in the search results that they deliver to you personally and to those in your Google+ network.
What is interesting is that even if you are logged out of your Google account, Google is still tracking your activity. Of additional importance, is the announcement that the social related results that will be shown in the Google.com index are personally selected for you and WILL contain Google+ activity across your Google+ social network.
That means if you start building your network now, your information and website could be appearing in search results for a very broad network of readers and potential prospects. As this activity comes from your personal network, just like a word-of-mouth referral, links to you and your profile will most likely carry more authority and legitimacy in the eyes of potential clients. Everybody weighs a reference by a fríend about a business more than a written review found randomly on the Web. This will be the real impact of Google+ and +1's in the very near future.
Fourth, why should you take the actions mentioned on this page now?
Based on this new focus for Google, you need to start flowing through search and social activity into your Google+ and +1 bank. If you don't have accounts, Google can't tie the activity to you specifically.
If you wait to tie up your business page and top keyword phrase, you may find that someone else has tagged it; locking you out of words and phrasing that will be very important to your Google presence in the very near future. Even if you do nothing yet with these new accounts, they will be tied to you so that when you do want to use them you can.
Fifth, why is this so important?
All of the actions to take and the information in this article are important because the business that is driving this action is Google. As Google owns 65% of the online search market, to be positioned well on Google means taking full advantage of what Google considers important. It is very important to understand that Google+ is not Facebook. Google considers Google+ and +1's integral to the new face of search and how search results are shaped and delivered. Do not be fooled into thinking that this is just a social network. These new Google offerings are very important and should be embraced quickly and completely for your future organic placement benefit.
Don't wait beyond 30 days to take the actions we recommend. When Twitter first came out many clients did not move into the platform because they considered it just a time drain. For the clients we work with that embraced Twitter early, many have networks of followers well over 2,500 active users; allowing for some serious marketing action and site promotion. Our é is that Google+ is by far the most important new social network to have come out in the last three years. Don't miss your chance to stárt now so that you can take full advantage of the future possibilities.
